The Benefits Of Dental Bonding

Posted on 6/7/2016 by Michael Bleyzer, DDS
Man smilingFor many people, fear and an aversion to going to the dentist is ingrained at an early age. Whether from a bad experience, urban legends, or watching Little Shop of Horrors before they were ready, this can lead to a lifetime of neglecting crucial oral hygiene and healthcare. It also causes many people to live with unnecessary cosmetic problems that could easily be fixed in a few short and stress-free visits to the dentist.

Dental Bonding in Rockland County

Although minor issues like gaps, chips, small cracks, and stained teeth don't necessarily pose a risk to oral health, or require a great deal of work, they are the kind of "quality of life" dental problems that can cause many people to feel self-conscious and insecure about their smile. For teeth that are in need of an upgrade, but don't necessarily require more extensive work like crowns or orthodontics, Rockland County based dentist Dr. Michael V. Bleyzer recommends bonding.

The bonding material is made out of composite resin designed to match the texture and color of a natural tooth. Once it has been affixed and molded, the resin is dried with a laser. A single tooth can be completed in as little as 30 minutes, which makes it an ideal option for busy adults who may only be able to squeeze in a visit to the dentist on a lunch break from work, or in between family appointments and obligations. Bonding can also be used in place of silver (amalgam) dental fillings, and to prevent portions of a tooth's root from exposure in people suffering from gum recession.
